In Charles Dickens's novel "A Christmas Carol," Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his old business partner, Jacob Marley. Marley brings a warning to Scrooge about his actions in life; making reference to the chain he wears, he says, "I wear the chain I forged in life....I made it link by link, and yard by yard; I girded it on of my own free will, and of my own free will I wore it.” I loved the imagery of forging with every action a chain of life. As I pondered it, I came to realize that we all forge chains. Some chains are heavy with sorrow and sin. Other chains are beautiful and light with joy and happiness. We choose what chain we forge in life. As these are my thoughts on life, I named this blog "The Chains of Marley" in reference to the chain that I am forging in life.
Dear reader, as you read, please consider my chain. Learn from it. Emulate the beauty, throw out the bad. Forge your chain.
Let me give a few caveats: First, this will be who I am. I will try to show mostly my best side, but I might show the bad as well. Please, be gentle as you learn from me what you can. Second, this blog is mine and mine alone. I represent in it nobody but myself. These are my thoughts and my opinions. I act in no official capacity as I write. Just me. :)
I will write something every week, posted by the end of each Sunday. I hope you enjoy it!
